Subject: Young--PERS adjustments

PERS does not intend to wait for the Strunk matter to be completed before proceeding to make adjustments to PERS accounts based on the supplemental Young overtime payments. A business plan, including time lines for account adjustments, is being developed and should be completed within the first quarter of 2007. Members of the Young class should understand that (1) an adjustment will automatically occur (members do not need to contact anyone at PERS to initiate the process); and (2) the adjustment will be retroactive to the member's effective retirement date (the member will receive any increased benefit from that date forward).
